    Ring in the Holidays with a Lakeway Sing Along

    Lakeway Sing Along celebrates their 20th anniversary of entertaining local crowds on Sunday, December 8th at the Lakeway Activity Center (map), with a special family Christmas Show featuring many favorite holiday songs from past years. There isn’t a better way to get into the holiday spirit than with a Christmas music show, especially one benefiting low-income children. There will be ample opportunity for audience participation – and a really good chance Santa and Mrs.Claus will drop in! Back-to-back performances will be held on December 8 at 2:00 p.m and 4:30 p.m at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek. No need for reservations, but come early to get a good seat.     Lakeway Sing Along Celebrates 20th Anniversary

    Lakeway Sing Along celebrates two decades of entertaining area music lovers with its 20th Anniversary Spring Show at the Lakeway Activity Center on April 25-27. Expect an array of favorites from past Sing Along shows, as well as familiar songs about who they are and those who helped them get where they are today. Doors open for these dinner show performances at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the show following. BYOB, of course, and tables of 10 available.     Harmonizing with the Lakeway Sing Along

    Sing Along is a group of approximately 80 men and women from the Lakeway area who enjoy singing and performing. Sing Along meets regularly at the Lakeway Activity Center on Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  They perform twice annually, a Spring Show series (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) and a Christmas Show (2 performances on Sunday in December). Profits from the Spring show supports the Christmas Show which currently benefits the Green Santa program. Each year, Sing Along collects thousands of toys and dollars for charities which benefit children in need in the Lake Travis area.  For more information, please contact the Lakeway Activity Center at (512) 261-1010.

    A Look Back at the Arts in Lakeway

    Here is a brief history of the Lakeway Arts Committee. December 20, 1999: Arts Committee established by Resolution No. 99-12-20-4, signed by Lakeway Mayor Charles Edwards. 2000 January: Committee members (9) were appointed by the Mayor, with George Blume as Chairman. First concert on May 21, 2000: A Gershwin program with a singer and pianist. No cost. Based upon this favorable experience, the series of evening and Sunday Concerts began. Requested funding for Boston Baby Grand Piano by Steinway; granted by Lakeway Civic Corporation May: George Blume was elected to the City Council; Fred Newton was appointed Chair of Arts Committee. 2001 January & February: Brown Bag Luncheon Concerts began.…

    You are Invited to the Arts District Open House!

    The City of Lakeway is inviting the public to learn more about its proposed arts district concept at an open house from 6-8 p.m. April 30 at Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek. Several city staff members will visit with community members, answer questions and gather input about the vision of an arts district in Lakeway. To create a first-class showcase for visual and performing artists in Lakeway and a gathering place for the community, the city drafted a concept that could include a performing arts center, art galleries, museums, live music venues, sculpture gardens, and walking trails.
