The popular Brown Bag  Lunch Concert Series returns to the Lakeway Activity Center this January. Bring your lunch and enjoy a free concert courtesy of the Lakeway Arts Committee. The concert series will take place every Thursday in January and February 2020 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., with the first performance starting January 9. Escape the winter doldrums, bring a friend and enjoy some great entertainment this January and February at the Activity Center. For more information, call (512) 261-1010. Brown Bag Concert Schedule: January 9:  SURPRISE!   January 16:  Lisa Clark’s Swingin’ Caravan celebrates the 100 year birth of Peggy Lee. Lisa and friends will give tribute to Ms Peggy Lee as an American jazz and popular music singer, songwriter, composer, and actress, in a career spanning six decades. January 23:  Steel Betty, the hip, virtuosic trio, embraces Austin’s eclectic culture and brings this lively music with flavors of bluegrass, folk, blues, Tex-Mex, Old Time music, and classic country, that are a reflection of today’s American music scene. January 30:  Frank Cavitt & Friends as a regular performer at Donn’s Depot, get ready for a good time as the Honky-Tonk Doctor and his friends provide piano and vocals February 6: Lakeway Wildflowers – Female Barbershop February 13: Albert and Gage Vocals – Classy Popular Songs by International Performers February 20: TexARTS Association – Musical Theater Songs February 27: The Second Line Jazz Band – A Mardi Gras Celebration

Put on your dancing shoes and bring your own beverages and snacks to the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek on the second Monday of every month. Tables/seating available. Enjoy big band music from the 17-piece Republic of Texas Big Band, featuring David Cummings and Lisa Clark on vocals. This event is free and open to all ages. Donations to the band are encouraged. Vending machine on the premises. Sponsored by the Lakeway Arts Committee.

Celebrate Black History Month with the Lake Travis Community Library! The historical movie Harriet chronicles Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and her transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes. She is credited with freeing hundreds of slaves through use of the Underground Railroad and changing the course of history. Actress Cynthia Erivo’s performance as Harriet garnered Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild nominations. All are invited to watch Harriet on Friday, February 21st at 1pm.
