Many years ago, after an inspiring watercolor class by Johnnie Fields, a well-known Lakeway artist, a group of his students enthusiastically established The Lakeway Painters which continues to grow and thrive today. Each Wednesday, The Lakeway Painters’ club gets together to paint in a supportive environment and have a friendly critique of their members’ art. Bring your artwork and supplies and meet others who like to express creatively with watercolors, acrylics, collages and more. The Lakeway Painters meet every Wednesday from 9:45 am-12:15 pm. Join us for another fantastic series of Great Decisions topics at the Lake Travis Community Library. This free, in-person program will take place in Lake Travis Community Library meeting room biweekly on Thursday nights at 7pm. No registration is required. Great Decisions is a nationwide, non-partisan program sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association intended to broaden public involvement in foreign affairs. It was launched over 50 years ago, and today tens of thousands of participants take part in discussion groups each year. Our library is proud to be hosting our sixth year of participation in the Great Decisions Program. Eight topics have been selected this year for discussion. The Foreign Policy Association provides a Great Decisions Briefing Book if participants choose to read articles in advance, and each program begins with a video presentation outlining the issues of the evening’s topic. Join us for the first Lakeway Art Walk weekend on April 19-21 this spring! Mark your calendar for a weekend of art, live music, theater, artisanal goods, food, and more! The Art Walk will take place at the Hamilton Greenbelt, Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden, and various art studios around Lakeway. This weekend festival full of art, crafts, live music and more is free and open to the public. Rain or shine event. Sponsored by the City of Lakeway Parks and Recreation Department and Lakeway Arts Committee. ART WALK AGENDA FRIDAY, APRIL 19 – KICKOFF PARTY at 5pm and OUTDOOR CONCERT at 7pm Immerse yourself in a vibrant celebration of the arts in Lakeway! This special three-day event kicks off on Friday 4/19 at 5pm with a festive artist meet-and-greet, wine, and light bites followed by an evening filled with live music under the stars at the Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden at 7pm featuring the Christian Wiggs Sextet. SATURDAY, APRIL 20 – ART WALK from 10am – 4pm Saturday 4/20 promises a full day of artistic exploration. Stroll around the scenic Hamilton Greenbelt and Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden encountering over 20 talented artists showcasing their work. From the charming creek that runs through Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden to the quaint Hamilton Greenbelt, you will be delighted to visit each inspiring stop to take in the creative arts in a myriad of forms as you make your way along a beautiful path set in nature. You will also get a chance to enjoy tasty treats from local culinary artisans to thrill your senses and you will be able to take home treasures you find along the way. Art Walk is 10am-4pm. Park at the Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden or at the Lakeway Activity Center and walk over the Hamilton Greenbelt entrance. Hamilton Greenbelt parking lot is open for vendors or handicapped vehicles only. SATURDAY, APRIL 20 & SUNDAY, APRIL 21 – STUDIO TOURS from 10am-4pm Venture beyond the parks to discover even more creative gems as you explore additional Studio Tours and off-site exhibitions both Saturday and Sunday. The Studio Tour will feature 20 open artist studios and businesses, plus a special Lake Travis High School student exhibition at the Lake Travis Community Library. Make sure to stop by and enjoy the student artist reception at the library on Saturday from 2-4pm. Library is closed on Sundays. SUNDAY, APRIL 21 – TEXARTS PERFORMANCE at 2pm On Sunday 4/21, wrap up your art-filled adventure by visiting additional open studios and treat yourself to a captivating performance by TexARTS Emerging Professionals at 2pm in the Lakeway Activity Center. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to celebrate the creative spirit of Lakeway – we hope to see you there!

Join us at the gallery on Friday, April 19th, as we kick off the weekend’s festivities: an artist meet-and-greet, wine, and light bites from 5 to 7pm. Music reflects the eras of our lives so beautifully. Come enjoy the songs of your life and the memories they bring in SingAlong’s 23rd annual Spring Show, “That’s Life”, at the Lakeway Activity Center on April 19th and 20th (Friday and Saturday nights). Tickets go on sale March 12 for Activity Center members and March 19 to the public. Doors open for these dinner show performances at 6 PM, dinner served at 6:30, with the show following. BYOB, of course, and tables of 8 and 10 available. Tickets are $45 are on sale now at the Lakeway Activity Center. Tickets are also available on line at http://www.lakeway-tx.gov/activity-catalog. These shows sell out quickly, so get your tickets early! Call the Lakeway Activity Center (512-261-1010) for more information. About “That’s Life!“ Certainly we’ve all been through it: You’ve finished school; next, find a job. Could be a great start, but maybe later you find something you want to do. Look for a partner to enjoy it all and grow old with – hopefully that works out. Probably have a family, a home. Friends, for sure. Activities and hobbies. Success? Sometimes, but oh – the ups and downs of it all. The song says, “You’re riding high in April, shot down in May.” “That’s Life”, sings Frank Sinatra, and you know he’s nailed it. Show co-producer Ann Smith sums up the program: “Music reflects the eras of our lives so beautifully – from youthful enthusiasm and naiveté, through career opportunities, leisure activities, even retirement lifestyles. Come enjoy the songs of your life and the memories they bring.” About SingAlong SingAlong is a collection of 70-some area music lovers that has been performing for local audiences since 1999. As always, there will be some fun numbers, exotic costumes and the very talented SingAlong Show Band. For newcomers to the area, SingAlong does all the singing, but audiences are always welcome to join in.
