Linda Wells
A love of nature’s beauty is what inspires me to paint. The subtle colors and light of winter or the vibrant screaming reds of autumn with the turkey and deer running through the countryside are a thrill to me.
I am a native Texan from Victoria, and have been painting since high school and throughout my careers as a U. S. Marine, Art Director for two companies and illustrator/designer for Texas Parks & Wildlife. I studied art at Victoria College and Texas Academy of Art in Houston and I continue to improve with study and experimentation. The majority of my work could be called representational. Although versatile and skilled in most mediums, oils and pastels are my favorites and move comfortably between the two. Pastels have almost become an obsession. Getting one's hands messy in the pastels is as much fun as making mud pies when I was a kid.
After nine years with Texas Parks & Wildlife, I started painting full time and joined the Bunkhouse Gang in Cypress Mill, Texas. Painting with a group of diverse and talented artists each week has been inspiring and educational as we constantly challenge each other and try new techniques.
I have had several one woman and small group shows and have won several awards. You can see more of my work at the annual Bunkhouse Gallery Show in Cypress Mill, Tx. in the spring, at the annual Austin Pastel Society Competition, at several venues around Lakeway and by appointment in my home/studio overlooking Lake Travis in Lakeway.
