![]() Experience the elegance of classical piano and join us for a captivating performance by renowned pianist SungEun Park on March 2, 2025, at 4 PM in the Lakeway Activity Center. All ages are welcome to this free, family friendly event. Dr. SungEun Park, a distinguished performer and educator, has graced stages across Korea, Italy, and the United States as both a solo pianist and a chamber musician. Currently serving as Assistant Professor of Piano at Texas Lutheran University and Program Director of the Texas State International Piano Festival, Dr. Park’s accomplishments are vast. A winner of numerous competitions, including the 5th Texas State International Piano Festival Concerto Competition, the American Prize, and the Sidney Wright Endowed Presidential Scholarship, Dr. Park has captivated audiences with her concerto performances alongside esteemed orchestras such as the Central Texas Philharmonic Orchestra, the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, the Texas State University Symphony Orchestra, the Balcones Community Orchestra, and the Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra. Beyond the classical repertoire, Dr. Park is a passionate champion of contemporary music, having frequently premiered works by leading composers. Her dedication to the arts has led her to perform as a guest artist at prestigious international and national conferences, including the Hawaii International Conference on Arts & Humanities, the National Association of Composers/USA, the Composers Alliance of San Antonio, and the One Month Festival. Dr. Park’s expertise as a performer is further evidenced by her involvement as a jury member for esteemed competitions such as the Texas Young Artist Piano Competition, the Rose Petroff Piano Competition, and the TFMC All State Festival. Her extensive discography includes recordings featuring the compositions of Peter Petroff, Zvonimir Nagy, Haseulki Baek, and Joe Young. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (DMA) and Texas State University (MM) in Piano Performance, Dr. Park’s mastery of the instrument is undeniable. ![]() The Lake Travis Community Library announces the return of its popular Great Decisions program for its seventh year. This free, in-person series, sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association, offers community members an opportunity to delve into critical international issues. Starting March 13th and continuing through June 19th, 2025, the program will convene on alternating Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM in the library’s meeting room. No registration is required, making it accessible to all interested participants. Great Decisions, a nationwide initiative with over 50 years of history, aims to foster public understanding and engagement in foreign affairs. The Lake Travis Community Library is proud to facilitate this vital program, providing a platform for informed dialogue. This year’s series will explore eight carefully selected topics. Each session will commence with a video presentation that outlines the evening’s focal issue. For those who wish to prepare, the Foreign Policy Association offers a Great Decisions Briefing Book containing relevant articles. Following the video, a knowledgeable facilitator will offer insights and guide a thoughtful discussion, encouraging participants to share their perspectives. ![]() Contracommon presents Out of Body, an exhibition exploring the human figure through abstracted, cerebral, and fantastical lenses. Featuring 13 emerging Central Texas artists, the show delves into themes of transformation, introspection, and the very essence of embodied experience. Inspired by Contracommon’s history of member-led figure drawing and the 2024 exhibition Bodies Akin, Out of Body showcases alternative representations of the body, pushing beyond traditional forms. Artists like Madeline Hernandez and Jessamyn Plotts challenge perceptions of self and physicality, examining the body as a site of constant flux and profound personal exploration. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, March 22nd, from 4-7 PM, free and open to the public. Out of Body will be on view from March 20th to April 17th, 2025, in the Contracommon gallery, open Friday through Sunday, 12-6 PM. Private viewings are available Monday-Thursday by appointment. ![]() Join us for a relaxing Sound Bath meditative experience in which musical instruments like singing bowls are used to relax, realign and re-energize the body and mind. Participants gather around these musical instruments while the instructor guides her students into a deep, calming state. The term “bath” is used because participants are bathing in the sound as well as the vibrations the sound waves put off. These vibrations are incredibly calming as well, with the goal being to help stimulate your body into restoration as well as clearing out any negative emotions or energies that serve you no purpose. Please bring a mat and any other items you might need to feel comfortable such as a pillow, blanket, or eye mask.
