Online: Suffragist Women Artists with Dr Pam Sachant @ Lake Travis Community Library - ONLINE

This talk focuses on several American women artists working in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, at the time of the Suffragist Movement in this country. While some were active participants in or supporters of women’s right to vote, others of these artists made no references to the cause in their art or recorded words. Nevertheless, they all worked in a time of great social change. How can the challenges and opportunities of the era be seen in their paintings, photography, illustrations, and prints?

Pam Sachant has a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Delaware and was Head of the Department of Visual Arts at the University of North Georgia. An experienced lecturer, Sachant has presented at several conferences, universities, and museums, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. As an academic writer, Sachant is featured in the University Press of North Georgia and in art history publications including the Archives of American Art Journal.
