Artist Bio

I am a self taught abstract artist that started painting two years ago. Started with pour painting which has evolved in many directions and mediums. I prefer painting with acrylics and working with resin. I started painting as a therapeutic escape and never expected people to want to purchase my work. I’m never more at peace than when I’m creating. Every piece is an experiment. My influences are Belinda Nadwie & Simon Bull. Having people reach out to purchase my expressions & emotions has been the surprise of my life and I’m very humbled by this experience. Becoming an artist at 51 years old feels like a gift.

This is a free play, open session without a dedicated instructor. New to American Mahjong? Learn the basics in Mahjong 101. About Mahjong: Mahjong (mah-JONG) is a tile-based game that was developed in China during the Qing dynasty that has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. It is commonly played by four players. The game and its regional variants are widely played throughout Eastern and Southeastern Asia and have become popular in America and other Western countries too. The game has also been adapted into popular online entertainment. Similar to the Western card game rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation with a degree of chance. Ladies of the Lake Quilt Bee, which organized in Lakeway in 1997, is a subgroup of the Austin Area Quilt Guild. Activities involve various quilt-related projects. Individuals may work on their own projects, quilt or sew for a charity, share ideas, teach and encourage others in the art. LOLQB contributes to the ongoing service projects of the Austin Quilt Guild by making quilts for wounded soldiers and veterans. They donate quilts and other supplies to four Austin area agencies for abused and underprivileged children. Locally, they have contributed to the Lake Travis Community Library, the Thrift Shop of Lakeway and the Lakeway Heritage Committee (Liebelt cabin.) Occasional field trips round out their events. They meet on Wednesday’s from 9:15am – 12:15pm at the Lakeway Activity Center. Membership of the Lakeway Activity Center is required.

Many years ago, after an inspiring watercolor class by Johnnie Fields, a well-known Lakeway artist, a group of his students enthusiastically established The Lakeway Painters which continues to grow and thrive today. Each Wednesday, The Lakeway Painters’ club gets together to paint in a supportive environment and have a friendly critique of their members’ art. Bring your artwork and supplies and meet others who like to express creatively with watercolors, acrylics, collages and more. The Lakeway Painters meet every Wednesday from 9:45 am-12:15 pm. They formed out of a shared passion for the rich traditions of bluegrass and old-time music. The band consists of four talented musicians: Andi Jo (fiddle/vocals), Devon Canady (guitar/vocals), Hunter Hollingsworth (mandolin/vocals), and Dom Fisher (upright bass/vocals), who is also a Grammy-nominated artist. The Hillsiders blend old-time and bluegrass influences, drawing inspiration from legends like Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, and Larry Sparks. Their music is characterized by sweet melodies and hard-driving breakdowns, which they deliver with both reverence for tradition and a unique personal stamp. Since coming together, they’ve become a fixture in Austin’s music scene, playing at various venues and festivals across Texas. Her art is inspired by her travels and influenced by the natural beauty of plants, birds, and animals.
