A Journey in Clay: The Art of Christy Stephens
Art has been Christy Stephens‘ lifelong passion. After high school, she pursued her artistic spirit by studying graphic design, and many are familiar with her design and illustrations. But Christy’s artistic journey extends beyond a single medium.
“I’ve always enjoyed applying my art to different mediums,” says Christy. “It keeps things fresh and challenges me to grow.”
In 2019, Christy discovered a new passion – pottery. She sees the process as a metaphor for faith, where the artist is like clay, being molded by a higher power. “There’s so much to learn,” she reflects, “but most importantly, I’m loving the process!”
Drawing inspiration from nature, Christy uses patterns, dimension, color, and texture to bring her creations to life. Her work aims to evoke a sense of wonder for the beauty that surrounds us, even in the seemingly ordinary. She enjoys the contrast between the new and the weathered, the perfect and the imperfect.
