Texas in Bloom is a Celebration of Color

Join us on March 17th at 5:30pm for an artist reception at Lakeway City Hall showcasing the vibrant works of Andy Hempel, a lifelong Texan whose creative journey has come full circle. Born and raised amidst the rolling hills and expansive skies of Texas, Andy’s artistic spirit first blossomed during his college years while pursuing a degree in fine art.

However, the tumultuous events of the early 1970s led Andy down a different path. Trading his delicate brushes for the robust tools of a commercial painting contractor, he embarked on a successful career as a Central Texas homebuilder. But his innate artistic talent never faded. Instead, it infused his building projects, allowing him to create designs that were both functional and beautifully crafted.

Now, years later, Andy has returned to his first love: painting. With renewed passion, he wields his small brushes once more, capturing the essence of his beloved Texas landscape through a unique lens of color and style.

“Texas in Bloom” presents a fresh and captivating perspective on one of Texas’s most iconic symbols: the bluebonnet. Andy’s paintings transcend traditional depictions, offering a vibrant and dynamic interpretation of these beloved wildflowers.
