Discover Lakeway’s Outdoor Art Museum

If you are searching for a fun and easy way to view the local outdoor artwork in Lakeway, look no further than our Lakeway Arts District Art Map! Consider taking a stroll or bike ride to visit Lakeway’s wonderful outdoor art museum. It includes some of our favorite art pieces, like Jim LaPaso’s “Butterfly”, “Daisy”, and “Wings” kinetic sculptures in Lakeway Butterfly Park, as well as the small but mighty dragon bronze in Dragon Park and the two adorable tortoises at the Lakeway Activity Center.

But that is just the beginning of what our community’s outdoor gallery has to offer! As you follow the map, you can dive deeper into Lakeway’s rich public art history and explore even more incredible installations.

Featured Highlights Along the Route:

  • The Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden: Nestled near the City Hall trail, this beautiful area is a crown jewel of Lakeway’s public art scene. It features a rotating collection of works, including the magnificent bronze “The Game” by Robert Holmes, a contemporary sculpture of two figures deeply involved in their chess game, which was brought to the garden through a generous local public donation.
  • Butterfly Park Kinetic Art: The vibrant “Butterfly,” “Daisy,” and “Wings” kinetic sculptures by renowned artist Jim LaPaso are at the Lakeway Butterfly Park, where they beautifully interact with the wind to create a dynamic, moving art experience in wildflowers and nature.
  • The Lakeway Blvd Bronzes: Keep an eye out for the striking bronze figurative sculptures along Lakeway Boulevard. These pieces make up the Frances Newton Memorial, generously donated by the community to honor this past Arts Committee charter member.
  • Lakeway in Motion: Enjoy the many whimsical Lyman Whitaker kinetic sculptures found on Lohmans Crossing and on Lakeway Boulevard (west).
  • The Activity Center Tortoises: Don’t forget to stop by the Activity Center courtyard to greet the giant tortoises! These playful figures are local celebrities for many local kiddos.

Ready to explore? Hop on your e-bike, jump in the car, or take a leisurely walk and enjoy Lakeway’s extensive outdoor art gallery.
