The Secret Garden: Art Experience @ Contracommon
Contracommon will host “The Secret Garden,” a one-night-only immersive fundraising party on May 9th from 7-11 PM. This event serves as the opening reception for “Perennials,” a group exhibition celebrating creative resilience. A minimum $30 donation grants access to the event, with all proceeds benefiting Contracommon’s mission to support emerging artists through accessible opportunities. Guests can explore the “Perennials” exhibition in the gallery and discover transformed behind-the-scenes spaces. The media room, adjacent to the main gallery, will feature affordable $100 artworks by past Contracommon participants. Attendees can also visit 11 private artist studios to engage with resident artists and their creative processes. Complimentary craft cocktails and refreshments will be provided by sponsors and partners. The evening will feature interactive installations throughout the venue and live performances in a projection-mapped party space. Musical acts include Hexpartner, a neoclassical darkwave project, and Bennett & The Infinite Glowing Castle, a doom pop solo artist. Contracommon is an artist-run nonprofit in Central Texas dedicated to empowering underrepresented emerging artists through community, collaboration, and creative exploration. Operating an experimental gallery at the Hill Country Galleria, Contracommon offers affordable workspace, facilities, and professional development opportunities. Resident artists volunteer to support the organization’s exhibits, workshops, and events, fostering connections between artists and the community. Tickets for The Secret Garden, taking place on May 9th from 7-11 PM, are available via a sliding scale donation.
