National Arts in Education Week at LTISD
September 8-14 is National Arts in Education Week. Did you know that Lake Travis ISD serves almost 4,000 students in band, orchestra, choir, art, dance and theatre at the secondary level? Their K-5th grade students receive art and music at least once a week for 45 minutes. According the National Art Education Association, arts education is “an essential element of a complete and balanced education for all students.”

Lynn Zwern Art at LT Community Library
Join us this month at the LT Community Library to enjoy the colorful watercolor artwork of contemporary abstract painter Lynn Zwern. A member of Lakeway Painters, Zwern is known for her strong sense of color and design, which she incorporates into vibrant pieces using watercolors on Yupo paper. Her style is loose, creative, and eye-catching. All are welcome to attend Zwern’s reception on Sunday, September 22nd from 1:30pm to 3pm.

Lake Travis Film Festival
The Lake Travis Film Festival (LTFF) is set to run from February 27, 2020 to March 1, 2020, and will feature film panel discussions, film screenings, and exciting social events. It is a film festival with an eye to showcasing filmmakers around the globe with authenticity, vision, and purpose. LTFF is bringing together filmmakers to celebrate their accomplishments in the beautiful Texas Hill Country for a star studded weekend in late February 2020. An Afternoon of Opera: Mozart to Puccini
Opera Etc. will be performing at the Lake Travis Community Library in Lakeway, Texas on June 14, 2019 at 4:00pm. The program will feature of an hour of music from various operas featuring arias, duets, and trios in Italian, French, and German from a variety of opera composers including Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutti, La Clemenza di Tito and Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute). Their previous performance left the audience wanting more…if you hunger for opera, you won’t want to miss this one!

Local Painter Celebrates Willie Nelson
Local artist Sarah Walters will exhibit her artwork during the month of June at the Lake Travis Community Library. Working in acrylics, Walters enjoys painting her favorite performer, Willie Nelson. The community is invited to attend her reception on Saturday, June 1st from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
