The 4th of July parade is a special celebrated event in Lakeway, bringing together residents and visitors alike to celebrate America’s independence and the City’s rich heritage. The parade is a testament to the community’s spirit, unity, and patriotism, and it serves as a reminder of the values that make Lakeway a great place to live and visit.
History of “63 and Free“:
In July of 1963, the Lakeway Inn (now the Lakeway Resort and Spa) officially opened with a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson and Governor John Connally. The event marked the establishment of the City of Lakeway and solidified its reputation as a destination for relaxation and luxury. This year, we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the City’s founding with a special 4th of July parade with the theme, ‘63 and Free.’ This theme pays homage to the official opening of the Lakeway Inn as well as the City’s rich history, and is an opportunity to celebrate its continued growth and success.
