Slide into 2024 at the Lakeway Polar Bear Plunge! All are welcome to join us for a chilly good time at the Lakeway Swim Center for this annual tradition. Participants will enter the leisure pool by taking a brisk ride down the big slide! Brrrrr!

Heritage Trail Bus Tours

Hop on board for a free historical adventure with the City of Lakeway Heritage Committee! Uncover Lakeway’s rich history by exploring around 20 historical gems, including the famous Liebelt Cabin. Led by a passionate member of the Lakeway Heritage Committee, these tours will whisk you back in time and give you a fascinating peek into the community’s past. Lasting about an hour, these FREE tours are a perfect outing for everyone, from young adventurers to curious history buffs. Space is limited, so sign up early to secure your spot for one of three tour times. Tours are available at 9:15 AM, 11:15 AM or 1:15 PM with Lakeway Committee members and volunteers guiding each tour that lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The first Heritage Trail Tour celebrated Lakeway’s Golden Anniversary in 2013, and since then, docents have informed and entertained more than 800 participants with facts and humorous anecdotes from the history of Lakeway and the Lake Travis area.

Join us for another splendid chamber music concert at the Masterpiece Concert No. 6 on Sunday May 19th at 4pm in the Lakeway Activity Center. Masterpiece Concert No. 6 Repertoire: Ludwig van Beethoven (German, 1770 – 1827) – Piano Trio Op 11 Philippe Gaubert (French, 1879 – 1941) – Piece Romantique (for Violin, Cello and Piano) Anton Arensky (Russian, 1861 – 1905) – Piano Trio #1 in D minor, Op 32 Piano: Rick Rowley Violin: Sari Pearce Cello: Andrew Pearce About Rick Rowley Rick Rowley, pianist, leads a diverse musical life. He gives concerts with many of the world’s finest instrumentalists and singers and his solo, concerto and collaborative performances have taken him throughout the United States, to Europe and Latin America. Mr. Rowley has made several recordings of solo piano repertoire, chamber music and art songs. His second CD with flutist, Marianne Gedigian, was one of the first recordings issued on the UT Longhorn label. He has recorded piano music of Chopin, Liszt, Granados, Mompou and American composers David Guion, Richard Cummings, Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber. His recordings with soprano Cheryl Parrish and Mela Dailey also feature music of American composers. He appeared with Charles Villarrubia in a video of works for tuba and piano by Sulek and Marcello, which has gained over ten thousand views on social media. Me. Rowley is on the faculty of the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas. He coaches singers and works with collaborative pianists, has taught classes in German, French and American art song, singing and acting for musical theater and a history of musical theater on Broadway. He has appeared three times as soloist with the UTSO, performed concerti of Mozart and Beethoven with student ensembles and conductors and performed the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 this February with the LAB Orchestra. He is heard frequently on broadcasts of live performances from the BSOM and his solo piano performances have earned him the Austin Critics’ Table award for Instrumentalist of the Year and 10 Best Performances of Music and Dance by the Austin Chronicle. For several years, Mr. Rowley was involved in theater and has been part of over 50 productions as actor, director and musical director. He has acted in plays ranging from Shakespeare and Marivaux to first productions of contemporary playwrights. In addition to performing and teaching for FAVA in France, he directed Mozart’s two one-act operas, “Bastien and Bastienne” and “Der Schauspieldeirektor”, for their program in Salzburg. He has appeared with the Austin Symphony as a actor in two “Beyond the Score” presentations and an evening dedicated to the music of Silvestre Revueltas, as well as concerto soloist with the MacDowell Piano Concerto No. 2. He played the role of Frosch in a production of “Die Fledermaus” at the Butler Opera Center and continues to be a frequent speaker in concerts involving the spoken word.

Many years ago, after an inspiring watercolor class by Johnnie Fields, a well-known Lakeway artist, a group of his students enthusiastically established The Lakeway Painters which continues to grow and thrive today. Each Wednesday, The Lakeway Painters’ club gets together to paint in a supportive environment and have a friendly critique of their members’ art. Bring your artwork and supplies and meet others who like to express creatively with watercolors, acrylics, collages and more. The Lakeway Painters meet every Wednesday from 9:45 am-12:15 pm. Join us for a relaxing Sound Bath meditative experience in which musical instruments like singing bowls are used to relax, realign and re-energize the body and mind. Participants gather around these musical instruments while the instructor guides her students into a deep, calming state. The term “bath” is used because participants are bathing in the sound as well as the vibrations the sound waves put off. These vibrations are incredibly calming as well, with the goal being to help stimulate your body into restoration as well as clearing out any negative emotions or energies that serve you no purpose. Please bring a mat and any other items you might need to feel comfortable such as a pillow, blanket, or eye mask.

Chaski, a flute and harp duo from Austin, Texas, plays music from around the globe, and from many musical traditions. Since 1985, flutist Adrienne Inglis and harpist Shana Norton have entertained audiences with folkloric tunes, classical repertoire, and contemporary works. They will present Words & Other Wild Things, a performance that combines literary readings with harp and flute music. Join us for live music in the library!

Aloha! Get ready to bust out your brightest floral shirts and grass skirts for the Aloha Pool Party at the Lakeway Swim Center! This festive luau takes place on Saturday, May 25th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Dust off your dancing shoes and prepare to learn an authentic Hula dance! There will be games galore, perfect for unleashing your inner island spirit. Plus, you can tantalize your taste buds with Chick-fil-A served directly through the concessions, complete with a special Polynesian sauce to add a tropical twist. Feeling competitive? Join the limbo contest for a chance to win a real ukulele – a perfect souvenir to remember the day! Of course, no luau is complete without swimming! The leisure pool will be open for all to enjoy. There’s a drop-in fee for those without a membership, but admission is free with a Summer membership pass. So come on down to the Lakeway Swim Center and celebrate summer with a splash of Hawaiian fun at the Aloha Pool Party!
