Art and Architecture in Historic San Antonio
Depart Barton Creek Lakeside Country Club parking lot at 8:00 a.m. Return time TBD.
The trek will begin at the Briscoe Western Art Museum where docents will lead a tour. They have a phenomenal collection of bronze sculptures in the McNutt Sculpture Garden, as well as inside the museum. The museum has three floors of paintings, sculpture and artifacts of the American West.
We will embark a chartered boat to take an art and architecture tour on the river. Our tour guide is an architectural professor and a lifelong resident of San Antonio. The river trip will be approximately 2 hours long ending in the historic Pearl District.
The 23-acre brewery site was purchased by a San Antonio-based investment firm in 2001 with extensive plans to create a mixed-use development. Today the Pearl District includes restaurants, boutiques and the stunning Hotel Emma, a boutique hotel. It is a lovely area with a rich history that our guide will share with us.
Yes, there will be lunch and a libation at the end of the day. Plans for those are still in the works. There will be an updated itinerary as soon as the details are firm.
