Lakeway Arts Committee presents Bella Corda youth guitar ensemble

The Austin Bella Corda Guitar Ensemble will return to Lakeway for a free concert from 4-5 p.m. Saturday at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek.

This ensemble of extraordinary students from the Central Texas area has performed music from medieval times to the present on tours throughout the United States and Germany.

Their YouTube videos have garnered over 350,000 viewings. Bella Corda soloist Aytahn Benavi, 15, recently placed first in high school guitar competitions at Texas A&M and Indiana universities.

One reviewer said, “The kids have an emotional sensibility way beyond their years,” and the Austin American-Statesman said, “The music is fun and the students play it to the hilt.”

The ensemble is sponsored by the Young Performing Artist Program, which assists targeted pre-college guitarists in their education and development. It is a special project of Greater Austin Creative Alliance, a nonprofit organization funded totally by voluntary donations.
