POLL: What would you like to see in the Lakeway Arts District?
Envision a brand new central Lakeway area dedicated to arts and culture. What would you like to be a part of it? We are interested in your thoughts so take our poll and let us know!
I am a member of the Lakeway Painters and enjoy the benefits of the greater Austin “Arts”. There is an issue with the lack of a local venue for the showing and enjoyment of Arts in Lakeway but do not as of yet fully understand the cost benefit analysis of the development of such a venue on the Proposed land. When such costs are analyzed it will probably show to be more cost effective for any development to be a joint venture with a commercial developer with the plans and zoning agreed by all stakeholders. However in these times of near recession and austerity the area and its residents do not have a bottomless pit of disposable income so would be against any proposal to increased taxation for non essential services. The local schools, especially LTHS, have a wonderful theater complex and spaces that we as taxpayers are already paying for, why do we not find ways to utilize these spaces during Non-school hours for the benefit of the arts?
