Lakeway Painters Workshop (2024)
Apr 3 @ 9:45 am – 12:15 pm
Lakeway Painters Workshop (2024) @ Lakeway Activity Center
Many years ago, after an inspiring watercolor class by Johnnie Fields, a well-known Lakeway artist, a group of his students enthusiastically established The Lakeway Painters which continues to grow and thrive today. Each Wednesday, The Lakeway Painters’ club gets together to paint in a supportive environment and have a friendly critique of their members’ art. Bring your artwork and supplies and meet others who like to express creatively with watercolors, acrylics, collages and more. The Lakeway Painters meet every Wednesday from 9:45 am-12:15 pm. Lakeway Activity Center membership is required to participate.  Membership information: Contact Ben Kuenemann at 512-261-8720 or email benkue37@gmail.com.

Class: Watercolors 2:00 pm
Class: Watercolors
Apr 6 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Class: Watercolors @ Contracommon
In this 2-hour, beginner-friendly Contracommon art class,  learn about the supplies and techniques used for painting in watercolors! Contrary to a typical “paint and sip” style class, this lesson will be focused on individual experimentation rather than a prescriptive “how to make this picture”. During the first half of class time the instructor will introduce the class to the different materials and why some will suit your artistic needs better then others. In the second hour, attendees are encouraged to play with the different papers and get a feel for how they change the painting experience. A variety of paper types will be available for your use in a postcard size so that you can experience different thicknesses and textures. After the initial introduction, free-spirit students are welcome to freestyle and paint what they want while asking questions when they get stuck. Students who need more structure will be provided step by step exercises to practice.

LTCL Sound Bath Meditation 10:30 am
LTCL Sound Bath Meditation
Apr 25 @ 10:30 am – 11:30 am
LTCL Sound Bath Meditation @ Lake Travis Community Library
Join us for a relaxing Sound Bath meditative experience in which musical instruments like singing bowls are used to relax, realign and re-energize the body and mind. Participants gather around these musical instruments while the instructor guides her students into a deep, calming state. The term “bath” is used because participants are bathing in the sound as well as the vibrations the sound waves put off. These vibrations are incredibly calming as well, with the goal being to help stimulate your body into restoration as well as clearing out any negative emotions or energies that serve you no purpose. Please bring a mat and any other items you might need to feel comfortable such as a pillow, blanket, or eye mask.
