The Loss of an Artistic Legend: Johnnie Fields 1927-2020
It is with great sadness and condolences to report that the original “Lakeway Painter”, Johnnie Fields passed away on June 7, 2020. Mr Fields was known throughout the community as a notable architect and one of the most talented watercolor artists in Texas as well as the founder of the Lakeway Painters group. His career path melded his love of architecture with his passion for watercolor.
Johnnie often told his watercolor students to “be loose and unafraid” while painting. We know this is also how he lived his life. Some of us were lucky enough to have been taught by him personally. This humble, wise and compassionate artistic man will be greatly missed.
