Lakeway Arts + Culture Calendar

Ladies of the Lake Quilt Bee, which organized in Lakeway in 1997, is a subgroup of the Austin Area Quilt Guild. Activities involve various quilt-related projects. Individuals may work on their own projects, quilt or sew for a charity, share ideas, teach and encourage others in the art. LOLQB contributes to the ongoing service projects of the Austin Quilt Guild by making quilts for wounded soldiers and veterans. They donate quilts and other supplies to four Austin area agencies for abused and underprivileged children. Locally, they have contributed to the Lake Travis Community Library, the Thrift Shop of Lakeway and the Lakeway Heritage Committee (Liebelt cabin.)  Occasional field trips round out their events. They meet on Wednesday’s from 9:15am – 12:15pm at the Lakeway Activity Center. Membership of the Lakeway Activity Center is required.

Many years ago, after an inspiring watercolor class by Johnnie Fields, a well-known Lakeway artist, a group of his students enthusiastically established The Lakeway Painters which continues to grow and thrive today. Each Wednesday, The Lakeway Painters’ club gets together to paint in a supportive environment and have a friendly critique of their members’ art. Bring your artwork and supplies and meet others who like to express creatively with watercolors, acrylics, collages and more. The Lakeway Painters meet every Wednesday from 9:45 am-12:15 pm. Lakeway SingAlong presents their 2024 Christmas Show “Sing We Now of Christmas” with two performances at the Lakeway Activity Center on Sunday, December 8, at 2 and 4 PM. Price of admission is an unwrapped toy for a child to 17 years . These toys will be distributed by LTlov’s Green Santa volunteers to children of local needy families. Join us at the Lakeway Activity Center, where the talented dancers of the Metamorphosis Dance company will bring this beloved holiday tale to life. Metamorphosis Dance’s unique telling of the classic ballet, The Nutcracker, portrays young Clara as an aspiring young ballerina wanting to follow in her favorite aunt Vivian’s footsteps and travel the world as a dancer.  She has the support and encouragement of her mom and sister, Marie, however, her father vehemently disagrees. Going against his wishes, Clara and Marie embark on a worldwide tour engaging with the many cultures and enjoying the people they meet along the way. Hosted by the City of Lakeway Arts Committee, this performance will transport you to a magical world through the dancers’ artistry and the enchanting notes of Tchaikovsky’s score.
