Enjoy the Magic of Classical Music with the Balcones Orchestra
Join us on Sunday, September 24th at 4pm as the Balcones Community Orchestra performs a selection of classic orchestra favorites at the Lakeway Activity Center as a part of the popular Arts in the Afternoon series. The Balcones Orchestra is a symphony of 36 musicians and is directed by Dr. Robert Alan Radmer. The all-volunteer group draws its repertoire from the masterworks for small orchestras. Dr. Radmer is the founder and Music Director of the Balcones Community Orchestra, now in its 23rd season. Austin Brassworks Ready to Shine in Lakeway
Join us as the City of Lakeway’s Arts in the Afternoon program showcases the Austin Brassworks performing “Showstoppers” on Sunday Aug 6th at 4pm at the Lakeway Activity Center. This free and family friendly concert is for all brass band lovers! The Austin Brassworks formed in 2018 to explore original works for brass quintet, including those by the Nineteenth Century composer, Victor Ewald, and more contemporary composers of quintet literature, such as John Cheetham and Michael. Over time, the group’s repertoire has broadened to include high-quality transcriptions of music in a wide range of styles that were originally voiced for other instruments. Join us on Sunday May 21st when classical music resonates once again at Masterpiece Concert No. 3 from 4-5pm at the Lakeway Activity Center. Founding musicians Andrew and Sari Pearce, along with professional orchestra guest musicians, will perform some of the most beautiful classical music ever written. At this Masterpiece Concert No. 3 in the Masterpiece Concert Series, the program will feature violins, viola, cello and piano to perform Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No. 13 in A Minor, “Rosemunde” and Antonin Dvorak’s Piano Quintet in A Major, Op 81.
