Lakeway Fireworks Show says “BuhBye” to 2020 and Welcome to 2021
What a year! Now it is time to say “good riddance” to 2020 in style! The City of Lakeway is hosting a short fireworks show to blow out 2020 and ring in a happy and healthy 2021. The fireworks will launch at an elevated location on the western edge of Lakeway (behind Rough Hollow Elementary school) on Wednesday, December 30 starting at 8 p.m. The show will last approximately 10 minutes. While it will be viewable from multiple points throughout the city, there will be limited parking available at some empty lots off Bee Creek Road just north of Highlands Boulevard (see map below for details). Calling all Gingerbread Artists and Architects
It is the sweetest competition of the season! The Lakeway Parks & Recreation Department is launching a virtual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest starting December 14th. Gather your immediate household together to build a gingerbread house based on your personality and style. Then, take three photos from different angles and email your entry to events@lakeway-tx.gov. Entries must be submitted by midnight on December 28 with winners announced on December 29. Discover Lakeway’s Little Free Libraries
Everyone knows how important reading is for adults and kids alike. With many schools and public libraries closed, Little Free Library book-sharing boxes are more important than ever. A bright spot in another dreary week of 2020 is that we discovered that Lakeway is adding to the book sharing movement (in addition to the wonderful Activity Center paperback library) with their own outdoor Little Free Library! The official ribbon cutting for the Little Free Library location at the Activity Center will take place at 2 p.m. this coming Monday, December 21 at 105 Cross Creek. Bee Cave is Swarming with New Outdoor Art
The Bees of Bee Cave is an outdoor public art project presented by The Bee Cave Arts Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the mission to improve the quality of life in our community and enhance the experience of visitors by bringing awareness, education and integration of a wide range of art throughout public spaces. Each large scale Bee Sculpture was designed by local artists/artist groups to reflect their creative freedom and visually engage the community and visitors of Bee Cave, Texas. Santa’s Jingle Bell Express Cruises into Lakeway
Join us on Friday November 20th when Santa makes an appearance at the Lakeway Activity Center for a special drive-thru holiday celebration! Cruise on over to the Jingle Bell Express and your family can drive through the Lakeway Activity Center parking lot to different stations collecting holiday treats, before ending with a drive thru visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus! The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. You can enjoy the first night for the beautiful Trail of Lights at Lakeway City Hall too! The lights will continue each evening at sunset through Jan 1, 2021.
