March is Youth Art Month

The greater Lakeway community is invited to the 2020 Youth Art Month Exhibition at the Lake Travis Community Library on display from March 2 through March 29, 2020. The exhibition is hosted by the City of Lakeway’s Art Committee in partnership with the Lake Travis Community Library. It will feature artwork from Lake Travis ISD elementary students. Embroidery Artwork and Demonstration at LTCL in January
Local artist and Lake Travis Community Library volunteer Carol van Ginkel will exhibit her embroidery artwork during the month of January. Carol grew up in Pittsburgh where her grandmother introduced her to embroidery. After she got the hang of it, she tried new ideas by searching for images that she wanted to “paint” in threads. Carol enjoys experimenting with various techniques, styles, and materials to create her detailed pieces. All are invited to attend her reception on Sunday, January 12th from 2pm to 3:30pm and demonstration on Sunday, January 19th beginning at 2pm.

Worldly Watercolors Art Reception and Exhibit
Ben Kuenemann Art Reception – Sunday, December 8th from 2pm to 3:30pm The library will exhibit the travel inspired watercolor paintings of local artist Ben Kuenemann during the month of December. Kuenemann picked up oil painting after his retirement in 1996, when his wife Sylvia encouraged him to take classes. He switched to watercolor in 2001 and has made painting a regular part of his life. Kuenemann has generously offered to auction off the painting The Gapstow Bridge in Central Park NYC with the proceeds going to the library. Lakeway Painters Annual Exhibit and Sale
Began in 2002, the Lakeway Painters will honor musical legend Willie Nelson with their annual exhibit and sale on Sunday November 24th from 11am to 3pm at the Hills of Lakeway Country Club located in the Village of The Hills. The show is free to the public. More than 25 local artists will showcase a variety of works including watercolor, mixed media, acrylic and pastel. In addition to the beautiful art from the group’s members, this year many will also display artwork featuring their own unique vision of Austin’s Willie Nelson. The Lakeway Painters gather at 9am weekly on Wednesdays at the Lakeway Activity Center.
