Step into Vibrant Fauve-inspired Art this Summer
The Lakeway Arts Committee is thrilled to announce our new art exhibit for June and July, showcasing the vibrant works of talented local artist, Charlotte Michelson.
Prepare to be captivated by Michelson’s unique vision. A classic on-site painter with influences from the French Fauves, her work echoes the vision, color, and verve of masters like Van Gogh, Vlaminck, and Derain. Michelson paints powerfully, using thick, vivid strokes to depict each scene in wild and beautiful color, offering only a suggestion of reality. She seeks out nostalgic scenes, transforming them with arbitrary colors, rhythm, and vibration.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1944, Char attended the University of Kansas before a life of travel took her through Europe and across America. After a career as an Art Director in Atlanta, she moved to California in 1992, beginning her lifelong ambition as an oil painter, capturing scenes from Carmel to Huntington Beach. Now, her award-winning paintings grace homes of collectors worldwide, with accolades including the Faber Birren National Color Award Show and the Bold Expressions International Exhibition.
