Lakeway’s Halloween Drive Thru Boo!

The City of Lakeway’s Parks & Recreation Department has a special treat planned for little goblins just in time for Halloween – a socially distanced and family friendly event will help lift your Halloween spirits!

On October 30 (Halloween Eve) starting at 7 p.m., a special Drive Thru Boo! event will allow you and your family to drive the Boo Trail to three city locations to trick-or-treat through a special spooky drive-thru service. Candy and goodies will be safely delivered to your vehicles starting at the Lakeway Police Department. A map will lead you to your next spooky destination at the Activity Center, before ending at the Liebelt Cabin next to City Hall.

Families are encouraged to wear a costume, mask and bring a bag to collect your treats. The event will last until 8:30 p.m.

Join us to explore the Enchanted Forest Walk behind Lakeway City Hall this April! Tiny fairy and gnome homes line the way as you stroll under a canopy of magical trees and twinkling lights. Whimsical loving residents of all ages will delight in catching a glimpse of ethereal abodes along this self guided walk. Charming creatures abound and surprises await around every turn. See you there! When: April 15 – 29, 2024 Where: Trail behind City Hall Cost: Free Time: Dawn to Dark. The walk is enjoyable by day and many of the features light up at dusk for a magical evening stroll! Many years ago, after an inspiring watercolor class by Johnnie Fields, a well-known Lakeway artist, a group of his students enthusiastically established The Lakeway Painters which continues to grow and thrive today. Each Wednesday, The Lakeway Painters’ club gets together to paint in a supportive environment and have a friendly critique of their members’ art. Bring your artwork and supplies and meet others who like to express creatively with watercolors, acrylics, collages and more. The Lakeway Painters meet every Wednesday from 9:45 am-12:15 pm. Join us for another fantastic series of Great Decisions topics at the Lake Travis Community Library. This free, in-person program will take place in Lake Travis Community Library meeting room biweekly on Thursday nights at 7pm. No registration is required. Great Decisions is a nationwide, non-partisan program sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association intended to broaden public involvement in foreign affairs. It was launched over 50 years ago, and today tens of thousands of participants take part in discussion groups each year. Our library is proud to be hosting our sixth year of participation in the Great Decisions Program. Eight topics have been selected this year for discussion. The Foreign Policy Association provides a Great Decisions Briefing Book if participants choose to read articles in advance, and each program begins with a video presentation outlining the issues of the evening’s topic. Calling all Jedi Knights, Rebel heroes, and scoundrels of all stripes! May the Fourth be with you, and may you join Lakeway Parks & Recreation for a Star Wars movie event that’s out of this world! Gather your crew and head to City Park’s Lower Level (near the playscape) on May the 4th, 2024. Festivities kick off at 5:30 pm, with delicious food courtesy of CraigO’s Pizza available for purchase to fuel your galactic adventure. As the suns begin to set, get ready to blast off into a galaxy far, far away with a screening of Solo: A Star Wars Story (PG-13). The movie starts at 6:00 pm sharp, so be sure to bring your own blankets or lawn chairs to create your perfect spot under the stars. Feel free to dress up as your favorite Star Wars character and join the fun! A prize will be awarded for the Best Dressed costume, announced at 6:30 pm. And to make the evening even sweeter, there will be complimentary popcorn and fun Star Wars giveaways for everyone! So, don your rebel gear, grab your lightsabers (peacefully, of course!), and get ready for a night of Star Wars fun with Lakeway Parks & Recreation!

Get ready for a fun-filled afternoon celebrating Mexican culture with friends and family. There’s something for everyone! Enjoy delicious free food (for the first 100 attendees!), the vibrant sounds of a live Mariachi band, and witness the energy of authentic Mexican dancing. Whether you simply want to relax, savor the food, and soak in the music, or want to get your groove on and join the festivities, this event is for you. We’ll also have fun activities planned for the whole family, with exciting prizes to be won by participants young and old. And to beat the Texas heat, there will be an optional mocktail margarita machine offering refreshing beverages for all ages. Feel free to bring your own beverages (BYOB) as well!
