Discover Lakeway’s Little Free Libraries
Everyone knows how important reading is for adults and kids alike. With many schools and public libraries closed, Little Free Library book-sharing boxes are more important than ever. A bright spot in another dreary week of 2020 is that we discovered that Lakeway is adding to the book sharing movement (in addition to the wonderful Activity Center paperback library) with their own outdoor Little Free Library! The official ribbon cutting for the Little Free Library location at the Activity Center will take place at 2 p.m. this coming Monday, December 21 at 105 Cross Creek. Santa’s Jingle Bell Express Cruises into Lakeway
Join us on Friday November 20th when Santa makes an appearance at the Lakeway Activity Center for a special drive-thru holiday celebration! Cruise on over to the Jingle Bell Express and your family can drive through the Lakeway Activity Center parking lot to different stations collecting holiday treats, before ending with a drive thru visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus! The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. You can enjoy the first night for the beautiful Trail of Lights at Lakeway City Hall too! The lights will continue each evening at sunset through Jan 1, 2021.

Lakeway’s Halloween Drive Thru Boo!
The City of Lakeway’s Parks & Recreation Department has a special treat planned for little goblins just in time for Halloween – a socially distanced and family friendly event will help lift your Halloween spirits! On October 30 (Halloween Eve) starting at 7 p.m., a special Drive Thru Boo! event will allow you and your family to drive the Boo Trail to three city locations to trick-or-treat through a special spooky drive-thru service. Candy and goodies will be safely delivered to your vehicles starting at the Lakeway Police Department. Lakeway Arts District is proud to announce a new initiative to compile the first comprehensive Artist Directory for the greater Lakeway, TX area. Until now, there has not been a free and publicly available Artist Directory for our diverse Lakeway area complete with artists from visual, performing, applied, digital, and literary arts. We have such a large and energized population of talented local artists – our active artistic community is long overdue for a free resource like this. It is time to get to know one another! The Loss of an Artistic Legend: Johnnie Fields 1927-2020
It is with great sadness and condolences to report that the original “Lakeway Painter”, Johnnie Fields passed away on June 7, 2020. Mr Fields was known throughout the community as a notable architect and one of the most talented watercolor artists in Texas as well as the founder of the Lakeway Painters group. His career path melded his love of architecture with his passion for watercolor. Johnnie often told his watercolor students to “be loose and unafraid” while painting.
