Eagle Scout Service Project Breathes New Life into Dragon Park
Local middle school student and Life Scout Nick spearheaded an initiative to renovate and revitalize part of Lakeway’s Dragon Park as his Eagle Scout Service Project, breathing new life into the beloved neighborhood recreational space. With a passion for enhancing the park’s amenities, Nick planned, developed and led his service project for BSA Troop 52 scouts and volunteers to meticulously refurbish the basketball court, adding red, white and blue patriotic nets, freshly painted court lines, and two foursquare courts for younger players. They also incorporated a striking red dragon and Texas star motif into the jump circle, paying homage to the park’s name and adding a touch of local flair.…

Learn How to Cook the Modern Pioneer Way
Join us at the Lake Travis Community Library as local cookbook author and library patron Mary Bryant Shrader discusses her debut The Modern Pioneer Cookbook, which features traditional “pioneer” cooking techniques such as making bone broth, sourdough bread, and cultured dairy. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. Lake Travis Reads is a One Book, One Community program whose goal is to bring the Lake Travis communities together through the shared reading and discussion of the works of our favorite authors. Lake Travis Reads is co-sponsored by Bee Cave Public Library, Lake Travis Community Library, and Spicewood Community Library.

Grand Opening of the Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden
Join us for fun grand opening festivities for the newest park in Lakeway! The Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden (104 Cross Creek, Lakeway, TX 78734) is a beautiful new park located in Lakeway, Texas. It is home to a collection of bronze sculptures by local artists. On Sunday October 15th at 4pm, there will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony with the mayor to celebrate the opening of the new sculpture garden and the start of a new era for the arts in Lakeway. The Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce is launching Taste Lake Travis – a food and beverage festival that will bring together the region’s leaders in food, beverage, and makers of artisan goods. The festival will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 12pm – 4pm at The Meadows at Safe Harbor Marina at Emerald Point on Lake Travis. Independence Day is the City of Lakeway’s biggest celebration of the year! This year there are lots of fun activities for the whole family.
