Eagle Scout Service Project Breathes New Life into Dragon Park

Local middle school student and Life Scout Nick spearheaded an initiative to renovate and revitalize part of Lakeway’s Dragon Park as his Eagle Scout Service Project, breathing new life into the beloved neighborhood recreational space.

With a passion for enhancing the park’s amenities, Nick planned, developed and led his service project for BSA Troop 52 scouts and volunteers to meticulously refurbish the basketball court, adding red, white and blue patriotic nets, freshly painted court lines, and two foursquare courts for younger players. They also incorporated a striking red dragon and Texas star motif into the jump circle, paying homage to the park’s name and adding a touch of local flair.

Their efforts extended beyond the court, as they also transformed the court entrance with new limestone edging, vibrant plants, and fresh mulch, creating a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing gateway to the park. The City of Lakeway Arts committee plans to complement these enhancements with a stunning bronze dragon sculpture, further enriching the park’s ambiance.

This Life Scout’s dedication to community service has transformed Dragon Park into a more vibrant recreational hub for residents of all ages. Together with his generous supporters and troop, their efforts exemplify the spirit of service, volunteerism and the transformative power of community collaboration. Congratulations Nick!
