He went on to attend UT, graduating with a degree in Engineering in 1959. Ben and his wife of 62 years, Sylvia, retired to their dream home in Lakeway in 1996. Irish Artistic Inspiration in Lakeway
Join us at the Lake Travis Community Library for an art reception welcoming local artist Diane Whooley. Born and raised in Ireland, Whooley has lived and worked all over the world, something she uses as inspiration for her artwork. In style, she is changing all the time, switching from landscapes to portraits to abstracts and back again in various canvas sizes and mediums. As a teacher, she believes that “there is an artist in everyone, you just need to have the passion.” All are invited to the library for Whooley’s in-person art reception on Saturday, June 4th from 2pm to 3:30pm. Diane will exhibit her paintings in the library’s meeting room for the month of…

Pastel Painting as Art Therapy
For the month of May, all patrons of the Lake Travis Community Library are invited to enjoy the exhibit of local artist Julie Schmidt. Schmidt has always loved color and design. She began painting when she was a teenager and continued to take various art classes while in school at UT. Yet as a professional working in Houston in the oil industry, Schmidt found that she had little time left for her art. Now, after a forty year hiatus, Schmidt has resumed her art journey. She says the light came on during a pastel workshop in early 2017 and it was apparent that this was the path to her new identity and doing…
