Vibrant Oil Paintings of Texas and Lake Travis
The Lakeway Arts Committee is proud to feature the oil paintings of local artist Mary Barnes at City Hall. The gallery is open during normal business hours, or before, during, or after a City Council meeting. The gallery is located just outside the lobby area at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road. Barnes’ oil paintings capture the beauty of the Texas and Lake Travis area in vivid detail. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the state. Empowering the ATX Community with Meaningful Public Art
Decades of artistic evolution on the streets of Austin, Texas have culminated in ATX Urban Art, a first-of-its-kind exhibition and book showcasing the city’s graffiti, street art, murals, and mosaics from the 1950s to today. It shines a spotlight on Austin artists at a time when the rapid growth of our city makes the preservation of the works from early pioneers and those carrying the torch today so important. Don’t miss the 2023 Cool Arts Show and Studio Tour to enjoy the best local art in Lakeway! The Lakeway Arts Committee will hold the annual Cool Arts Show and Studio Tour on Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27. Over twenty artists will exhibit and sell their work at the Lakeway Activity Center from 1-5PM on Saturday, August 26th. Enjoy an Artistic Escape to the Florida Gulf Coast
Local artist Larry Bishop will display his paintings at the Lake Travis Community Library beginning on Monday, July 10th. Bishop grew up spending his summers on Florida’s Gulf Coast and fell in love with its communities, marine life, and fishing. His artwork seeks to capture the natural beauty of the Texas, Mississippi, and Florida coastlines. All are invited to his reception on Saturday, July 15th from 2pm to 3:30pm. Weaving Artistic Dreams with Natural Elements
Local fiber artist Sharon Moore will display her mixed media art in the Lake Travis Community Library this month. A native of Houston, Moore graduated from Rice University and taught high school English and Humanities before moving to Austin. Moore is a lifelong artist who spent many years painting in oils and acrylics and creating handmade jewelry. Now she focuses on creating fiber designs such as wall hangings, mandalas, dreamcatchers, and organic tapestries that incorporate materials like shells, feathers, beads, and driftwood.
