Historical Lakeway Highlighted on Heritage Tour

Join the City of Lakeway Heritage Committee for one of these three popular historic bus tours. The tours take you to several historical landmarks throughout Lakeway. The free bus tours are scheduled to leave Lakeway City Hall at 9:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. with committee members and volunteers guiding each tour, which lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The committee started hosting these tours in 2013 and as the community has grown, so has interest in learning more about the area, according to chair Vickie Taylor.

“The tour covers 22 historic Lakeway sites with historical markers. We have more than 22 markers but we’re hilly and curvy out here and so the bus is unable to reach some of the locations,” Taylor said. “Every year we tweak it, we add new monuments or we change our route or something.”

The original goal of the tour was to introduce residents to landmarks and sites of historical significance in Lakeway. Now, Taylor said she hopes to attract the city’s newcomers to learn about what makes Lakeway special.
