Chill out this Summer at the Cool Arts Show and Studio Tour
The Lakeway Arts Committee is hosting its annual Cool Arts Show and Studio Tour. The event features live music by Christian Wiggs Trio (1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) in the Lakeway Activity Center courtyard, and fine visual arts created by around 20 Lakeway-area artists. Art available includes paintings, jewelry and pottery. There will also be a variety of children’s activities for kiddos to check out, including face painting and arts projects. Travel the World in Watercolors
This month at the Lake Travis Community Library, don’t miss the travel inspired watercolor paintings of local artist Ben Kuenemann. Ben was born in El Paso and grew up in Houston. He attended San Jacinto High School and is a proud member of the dwindling “Band of Brothers” Class of 1954, former San Jacinto football players. He went on to attend UT, graduating with a degree in Engineering in 1959. Ben and his wife of 62 years, Sylvia, retired to their dream home in Lakeway in 1996. Based on the cult hit film of the same name, The Full Monty, a ten-time Tony Award nominee, is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show. While spying on their wives at a “Girls’ Night Out,” a group of unemployed steelworkers see how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers. Local Artists to be Showcased at Lakeway City Hall
The City of Lakeway Arts Committee invites local artists and photographers to submit their work for our upcoming solo exhibition seasons at Lakeway City Hall. This program offers area creators a premier opportunity to showcase a cohesive body of work—typically 12 to 18 pieces—in a professional, high-traffic setting. Eligibility and Requirements This call is open exclusively to residents of the Lakeway area. They are seeking original 2D works across all media, including painting, photography, and mixed media. All artwork must be suitable for a general audience and capable of being wall-mounted, as the gallery cannot accommodate floor-standing displays or sculptures. Arts in the Afternoon: Pianist Maxwell Talai
On Sunday July 24th from 4-5pm, the Lakeway Arts Committee present Maxwell Talai, a talented classical pianist and composer who is the youngest in a family of famous and accomplished musicians. This free concert will be held at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek in Lakeway.
