A Glimpse into Penny Jamrack’s Artistic World
Renowned Lakeway artist Penny Jamrack will grace the Lake Travis Community Library this November with an enchanting exhibition of her watercolor and acrylic paintings. Originally from England, Penny has lived in several countries before settling in Texas in 1977. Retiring from a career in software development in 1997, she turned her attention to her artistic passions, particularly watercolor and acrylic painting. Her studies have taken her to Australia, Austin, and Bozeman, Montana, where she learned from accomplished artists. Inspired by the natural world, Penny’s works often feature the beauty of plants, birds, and animals. Are you a budding artist in grades 6 through 12? Do you love to read and want to express your creativity? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you! The Lake Travis Library is hosting its 10th annual Teen Art Contest, and we’re inviting you to participate. To enter, simply create an original piece of art that is inspired by your personal reading experiences. Discover the Stunning Nature-Inspired Artworks by Linda Wells
Renowned local artist and illustrator Linda Wells will be exhibiting her captivating oil and pastel paintings at the Lakeway Library’s meeting room this month. A native Texan with a lifelong passion for art, Wells served in the Marine Corps before pursuing formal art education at Victoria Junior College and the Texas Academy of Art in Houston. Linda’s professional career included roles as an Art Director at printing companies and in the graphics department of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. After retiring, she dedicated herself to oil and pastel painting, specializing in plein air techniques. Local Artists and Live Music at the Cool Arts Show & Studio Tour
The Lakeway Arts Committee is hosting its annual Cool Arts Show & Studio Tour on Saturday, August 24th from 1pm to 5pm at the Lakeway Activity Center (105 Cross Creek). Enjoy live music by Bethany Becker while browsing beautiful artwork from many local artists. There will be paintings, jewelry, pottery, and even fun children’s activities like face painting and art projects. Want to see more art? A Journey in Clay: The Art of Christy Stephens
Art has been Christy Stephens‘ lifelong passion. After high school, she pursued her artistic spirit by studying graphic design, and many are familiar with her design and illustrations. But Christy’s artistic journey extends beyond a single medium. “I’ve always enjoyed applying my art to different mediums,” says Christy. “It keeps things fresh and challenges me to grow.” In 2019, Christy discovered a new passion – pottery.
