Enchanting Animals at Lake Travis Library
During the month of October, local artist Georgia Hagan’s realistic animal portraits are on display at the Lake Travis Community Library (LTCL). Georgia’s love of art blossomed while taking lessons at a local Tulsa art museum in her teens. She attended the University of Tulsa, where she met her husband, Marvin. After many years, they moved to Lakeway together and that’s when she began to paint in earnest again. Georgia became a part of the Lakeway Painters in 2015 and quickly discovered that she enjoys creating animal portraits and looking for ways to make her paintings more lifelike. Chill out this Summer at the Cool Arts Show and Studio Tour
The Lakeway Arts Committee is hosting its annual Cool Arts Show and Studio Tour. The event features live music by Christian Wiggs Trio (1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) in the Lakeway Activity Center courtyard, and fine visual arts created by around 20 Lakeway-area artists. Art available includes paintings, jewelry and pottery. There will also be a variety of children’s activities for kiddos to check out, including face painting and arts projects. Three food trucks will also be outside the show on Saturday, including Evil Wiener, Craig O’s, and Kona Ice. The home art studio tour locations will be released within the week of the event. Travel the World in Watercolors
This month at the Lake Travis Community Library, don’t miss the travel inspired watercolor paintings of local artist Ben Kuenemann. Ben was born in El Paso and grew up in Houston. He attended San Jacinto High School and is a proud member of the dwindling “Band of Brothers” Class of 1954, former San Jacinto football players. He went on to attend UT, graduating with a degree in Engineering in 1959. Ben and his wife of 62 years, Sylvia, retired to their dream home in Lakeway in 1996. Prior to that, he worked for over thirty years managing computer technology in Houston. His career culminated with nine years as the Senior…
