Arts in the Afternoon: Pianist Maxwell Talai
On Sunday July 24th from 4-5pm, the Lakeway Arts Committee present Maxwell Talai, a talented classical pianist and composer who is the youngest in a family of famous and accomplished musicians. This free concert will be held at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek in Lakeway. Maxwell Milliano Talai Jr. is an American composer/pianist born 1996 in San Gabriel, California to a Creole/African American mother and Persian father. Keeping an Eye on the Eyes
A curated collection of pencil and charcoal drawings by Texas artist R.G. Rives will be exhibited during the month of July at the Lake Travis Community Library. Rives will donate all proceeds from art sales back to the library to support community programs. R.G. Rives will host a reception on Saturday, July 16th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Lake Travis Community Library’s meeting room. The community is invited to attend this in-person event. Old Fashioned 4th of July Parades through Lakeway
Independence Day is the City of Lakeway’s biggest celebration of the year and is famous for its classic, old fashioned 4th of July parade. This year there are activities for the whole family. There is a patriotic themed Rhythms & Reels event Friday July 1st evening at City Park, the Lakeway 4th of July Parade on Monday morning, followed by a Hot Dog Reception provided by HEB Lakeway at the Lakeway Activity Center, and a special $4 entry fee at the Swim Center all day on July 4th! Irish Artistic Inspiration in Lakeway
Join us at the Lake Travis Community Library for an art reception welcoming local artist Diane Whooley. Born and raised in Ireland, Whooley has lived and worked all over the world, something she uses as inspiration for her artwork. In style, she is changing all the time, switching from landscapes to portraits to abstracts and back again in various canvas sizes and mediums. As a teacher, she believes that “there is an artist in everyone, you just need to have the passion.” All are invited to the library for Whooley’s in-person art reception on Saturday, June 4th from 2pm to 3:30pm. Jazzy Celebration for the 2022 Lakeway Photo Festival
The City of Lakeway Arts Committee celebrates the winners of the 20th Annual Lakeway Photo Festival for 2022! There were 103 beautiful photographs entered from 36 talented local Lakeway photographers. On Sunday May 22nd, many of these Lakeway photographers, friends, and families attended the 20th Lakeway Photo Festival Awards Reception. It was a beautiful arts filled afternoon spent admiring the outstanding winning photos while enjoying cookies and lemonade. Special thanks to our talented Hudson Bend Middle School band student Nick who entertained everyone on his saxophone with classic and modern jazz favorites in the courtyard! Congratulations to all the winners and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
