A Look Back at the Arts in Lakeway
Here is a brief history of the Lakeway Arts Committee. December 20, 1999: Arts Committee established by Resolution No. 99-12-20-4, signed by Lakeway Mayor Charles Edwards. 2000 January: Committee members (9) were appointed by the Mayor, with George Blume as Chairman. First concert on May 21, 2000: A Gershwin program with a singer and pianist. No cost. Based upon this favorable experience, the series of evening and Sunday Concerts began. Requested funding for Boston Baby Grand Piano by Steinway; granted by Lakeway Civic Corporation May: George Blume was elected to the City Council; Fred Newton was appointed Chair of Arts Committee. 2001 January & February: Brown Bag Luncheon Concerts began.…

All You Need is Love
Lakeway Sing Along returns to the Lakeway Activity Center (105 Cross Creek) this April with the glories and heartbreaks of love in a two-night dinner and musical event titled, “All You Need Is Love.” The performances will take place April 29 and April 30, and will begin with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by performances at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $38 and will go on sale March 21 for Lakeway Activity Center members. Empowering the ATX Community with Meaningful Public Art
Decades of artistic evolution on the streets of Austin, Texas have culminated in ATX Urban Art, a first-of-its-kind exhibition and book showcasing the city’s graffiti, street art, murals, and mosaics from the 1950s to today. It shines a spotlight on Austin artists at a time when the rapid growth of our city makes the preservation of the works from early pioneers and those carrying the torch today so important.
